Every awards season there comes a name tucked in with the Meryl Streeps and Michael Keatons that fills every presenter's heart with dread -- because it is decidedly un-Western and therefore very difficult for your average Joe (or actor) to pronounce. Two years ago we had Quvenzhané Wallis, last year there was Barkhad Abdi, and in 2015 we have the most tongue-twisting last name of all, in the form of "Selma" star David Oyelowo.
Lucky for us, Brad Pitt has had plenty of experience in reading difficult actor names, so he used the stage at the Palm Springs Film Festival on Saturday (January 3) to clear the Oyelowo air -- with a song. A sing-along song, to be exact.
"With any great performance comes controversy and questions," Pitt said. "I know that there is one lingering question in the back of your minds. It's a fundamental question, I think it's only fair that we air it out tonight, and that question is, 'How the hell do you pronounce his name?'"
Watch Pitt honor the Breakthrough Performer Award recipient's moniker below, then be sure to impress your friends by pronouncing it with ease during your Oscar debates this year:
