Jhene Aiko's 'Wading' Video Is Basically A Short Film

The video addresses s a dangerous club scenario.

Jhene Aiko's "Wading" video is more a short film than a typical music video. There isn't any dialogue, but there is a storyline and Jhene stars as the film's survivor.

Aiko is stunning in the video's dance scenes, but it's hard to ignore the clip's mysterious and somber tones. In the video, a man tries to put a substance in Jhene's drink, another man thankfully intervenes and then a fight ensues.

The fight sequence is followed by a mysterious ending in the edited version. Aiko took to Twitter to say she wasn't too thrilled with the cuts that were made in the edited version.

So, she uploaded the uncut clip, which features more violence.

This isn't the first time Aiko has discussed the issue of date rape. A year ago, the singer told Dazed that her "Marvin's Room" cover "Do Better Blues Pt. 2" were both about this topic.

"The line ‘something was slipped in my drink’ had to do with one of my close friends," Jhene said at the time. "Date rape is something people don’t really talk about... It’s not that uncommon a story. I thought it would be good to take a song like that and talk about something that really happens."

"Wading" is a song off the singer's 2014 album, Souled Out, which was released in September. The singer is currently on the Enter the Void Tour, which features SZA, The Internet and Willow Smith.
