All Mariah Carey Wants For Christmas Is A Do-Over

Carey's vocals at the Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting ceremony were a bit off.

It was not Mariah Carey's night. The singer with the untouchable range sounded a little off on Wednesday night during a live tree-lighting ceremony special on NBC. Singing the Xmas classic "All I Want For Christmas Is You" on the song's 20th anniversary, Carey kicked-off the annual "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" special.

Sure, it has been two decades since she recorded one of the holiday seasons' modern classics, but it was hard not to notice that MC missed a few of the high notes, went a tad lower on some and let her back-up singers do a bit of heavy lifting at points.

According to reports, Carey showed up several hours late to a taped performance on Tuesday night that was supposed to open the show because, according to TMZ, she was stuck in a meeting with divorce lawyers.

Realizing she'd let some of her rain-soaked Lambs down by not appearing on the taping, Carey apologized to fans on Wednesday afternoon for a situation she said was beyond her control.

After reportedly giving up on the taping, NBC executives told Carey she could do her song live on Wednesday night's show. The reviews were decidedly mixed.
