Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon has been very vocal in the past about his feelings pertaining to the Grammys. Before scoring scads of nominations for golden gramophones, Vernon told The New York Times that he couldn't see Bon Iver being nominated for a Grammy, and, if he won, he would be tempted to give the following acceptance speech: “Everyone should go home, this is ridiculous. You should not be doing this. We should not be gathering in a big room and looking at each other and pretending that this is important.” He also declined to perform at the awards.

Vernon's actual speech with not quite as direct as the one he previously imagined, but it was hardly comparable to any of Adele's many tearful tributes at last night's Grammy awards. Although he did thank the voters for the "sweet hookup" and display gratitude for the award, Vernon managed to reference "all the non-nominees that have never been here and never will be here" twice in his speech. Score one for the indies.

All of those sentiments, however, fell on deaf, enraged ears: Those myriad Skrillex, J. Cole, The Band Perry and Nicki Minaj fans who felt their idols had been robbed by a conniving bear, the Grammy snatched from their still-grasping fingers like a pic-a-nic basket in a park. "Who is Bonnie Bear?" they cried. Yup, apparently the band's famously hard-to-pronounce name is also hard to hear.
