Chloe Grace Moretz Wanted To Do 'The 5th Wave' For One Major Reason

Also, aliens.

With reporting by Josh Horowitz

It's not a secret that a lot of YA is the same, and that's what kept Chloe Grace Moretz away from adaptations until "If I Stay."

Now, she's heading off to do her second YA movie, the highly anticipated "The 5th Wave," the story of a young girl during an alien invasion and her search for her little brother.

When she was considering the role, it was what made "The 5th Wave" stand out in the genre that attracted her to the project.

"It's a lot more in-depth than 'I love this boy' or 'I love this guy.' It's realistic again, which is why I haven't done any of these YA projects until now," Moretz said. "None of them have been exciting to me."

Check out what else she had to say in the video above!

"The 5th Wave" opens in theaters on January 29, 2016. "If I Stay" is in theaters now.
