Meet Cole Plante: Our New Favorite 17-Year-Old Producer

The young DJ/producer explains his love of making music.

Cole Plante may only be 17 years old, but the L.A.-based DJ and producer already has 10 years of experience when it comes to making music. From playing the piano and trumpet to marching in a band and playing guitar, Plante has always been a musical person. He started producing his own music about four years ago, and since then, he has shared the stage with everyone from Demi Lovato to Skrillex, and he shows no signs of slowing down.

His newest single "Before I'm Yours" is smooth, upbeat and progressive, with a lovely back-and-forth between the two vocalists, Brian Logan Dales and Brix.

"There is an epic finale in the sense of the song," Plante told MTV News. "In the end, they come together in this really beautiful harmonizing climax. It's really, really different."

Plante has a few other projects in the works, including a track with Sydney Sierota from Echosmith called "A Hundred Years From Now" and another with Bea Miller. When Cole is not producing, he is working on his other passion: scoring. He has worked with Joseph Trapanese and several other composers before, and is as interested in producing for film, television and video games as he is in producing for other artists.

You can check him out this Labor Day weekend at Produktworld in Montreal or Tramps Like Us in San Diego, but if you can't make those sets, there is always hope that one of his TEDTalks will come to a city near you.
