Have You Heard TDE's President Punch Rap? Here's 'A Project Mind'

Punch's new track 'A Project Mind' will blow yours.

Lately, TDE President Terrence “Punch” Henderson has been best known for his work behind the scenes with Top Dawg Ent. But Punch can kick punchlines, too.

Henderson, who’s rapped alongside TDE MCs Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock for years, recently released “A Project Mind,” a cut that reintroduces him as a man in front of the mic.

“Let’s go deep inside the mind of a project veteran/ Raised with nothin’, on the block with his brethren,” Punch raps as the track begins.

Soon, Punch is joined by Jay Rock on the cut.

“Crack heads speaking with they teeth missin’/ Pushing shopping carts with cans in it/ Dope dealers keep pitchin’,” Rock rhymes.

Throughout the selection, Punch and Rock go back and forth with verses about the harsh realities of street life.

“The project mind is hustle by design/ Too many spots in the hood set up ‘cross state lines,” Punch adds on the track.

Punch's work with TDE as a rapper goes back several years, including his material on Jay Rock's 2008 mixtape Do It Nigga Squad, which was recently uploaded to TDE’s official YouTube channel. The tape features Punch on "Try Me," "Fly Away," and "Murder You Rappers.” Punch appears on several other early TDE mixtapes, including Kendrick Lamar's Training Day, (from back when Lamar was known as K. Dot) and C4. Since then, Punch has also made appearances on Top Dawg releases, including ScHoolboy Q’sSetbacks and Ab-Soul’s These Days.

Beyond his work with the aforementioned TDE acts, Punch has also been integral in the development and rise of the newest Top Dawg artists, SZA and Isaiah Rashad.

With “A Project Mind,” Punch is back to releasing raps and proving he has no problem transitioning from behind the scenes to center stage.
