Get Jealous: Judd Apatow Has Already Seen Paul Rudd As Ant-Man

Apatow has gotten a sneak peek as Marvel's newest hero, and tells MTV News about it.

At this point, there are only a few ways to get an early look at Paul Rudd in his Ant-Man costume. You could either somehow find a job on the upcoming Marvel movie, or you can be one of the actor's longtime friends and collaborators, like Judd Apatow.

When MTV News spoke with Apatow at the premiere for HBO's "Girls," he shared that he has already seen his buddy dressed up like the shrinkable comic-book hero, who may or may not be Scott Lang.

"I've already seen [Rudd suited up] in our personal lives together, but I'm super excited for him," said Apatow, sharing one of the perks of being friends with Paul Rudd. (We're sure there are many, many others.)

Rudd joined the Marvel movie, which is being directed by "Shaun of the Dead's" Edgar Wright, after an exhaustive search that reportedly included Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It was another unexpected, but entirely welcome casting decision from the superhero house. It's also something that Apatow can't wait to see come to life.

"There's nothing more fun than being allowed into that Marvel world and to see Paul kick ass. I'm ready. It's about time," he said. "He's always been a superhero of my life and work, so it's not unexpected."

"Ant-Man" will be the first film in what Marvel is calling "Phase Three" of their cinematic universe, and so far, it's the only officially announced movie after "Avengers: Age of Ultron." The character is expected to be one of several new characters that Marvel is expected to introduce after Captain America, Hulk, Thor and Iron Man team up for a second time.

"Ant-Man" opens in theaters on July 31, 2015.
