What She Said

"I see music. It's more than just what I hear," Bey said in a statement accompanying the surprise release. "When I'm connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies. And they're all connected to the music."

The Many Faces Of Beyoncé

The singer also explained that she didn't want to release the album -- which she has been working on for more than a year and a half -- in the traditional manner.

"I am bored with that," she said. "I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans. There's so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans. I felt like I didn't want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it's ready and from me to my fans."

Where, When You Can Get It

Already available on iTunes as a complete experience (the individual songs won't be sold separately until December 20) and expected at traditional retail soon in a double-disc CD/DVD set, the singer's fifth was compiled in secret and sprung on an unsuspecting public just in time for stocking stuffing.

Who Shot The Videos

The eye-popping videos, shot all over the world from her hometown of Houston to New York, Paris, Rio de Janeiro and Sydney, Australia, were filmed by a group of A-list directors and fashion photographers primarily during her "Mrs. Carter Show World Tour."
