'Divergent' Trailer: Watch Shailene Woodley Nail A Dude In The Face

Woodley and Theo James are center-stage in the first trailer for the film, out March 21.

If you haven't yet climbed aboard the "Divergent" train, now is the perfect time to punch your ticket. Not only do you have plenty of time between now and the March 21 release date to read Veronica Roth's young adult book series, you can form your own well-supported opinions about whether Shailene Woodley is the right choice to play meek-turned-mighty female lead Tris.

Or you could take the easy road into fandom and check out this brand spankin' new trailer, unveiled Wednesday morning (November 13).

Though we've been teased with snippets since last summer's San Diego Comic-Con, this is our first significant look at the movie, which stars Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet, Miles Teller, Zoe Kravitz and Ansel Elgort.

If all this train-jumping and faction-choosing talk has your head spinning, fret not, the story is pretty simple once you get a handle on the mythology: A few hundred years in the future, a walled-in Chicago is in ruins and its inhabitants are divided into five virtue-based factions (Abnegation, Amity, Candor, Dauntless and Erudite). When a child turns 16, they take an aptitude test that reveals which faction they click with the most. They can choose to abandon their family and switch factions, or remain with their family. Beatrice (later Tris) has a dangerous test result: She's Divergent, meaning she has an aptitude for more than one faction.

Dun dun dunnnn.
