Robin Thicke To Headline Free Pre-VMA Concert

Time Warner Cable and Lifebeat benefit show will take place on August 23 at New York's Terminal 5.

What better way to get psyched for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards than a free show from three-time nominee Robin Thicke?

Mr. "Blurred Lines" himself will help set the table for the August 25 extravaganza by headlining the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards Concert at New York's Terminal 5 on August 23. The free show, a benefit for the national HIV/AIDS education organization Lifebeat, will be part of a series of VMA-themed concerts and events taking place across New York and Brooklyn in the lead-up to the main event at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.

Time Warner Cable distributed more than 200 tickets to the show to customers at one of its New York City locations earlier this week and a Twitter sweepstakes will run through Friday (August 16) for the rest of the passes. Starting Monday (August 12), contestants must follow @twc and include #TWCVMAconcert within their tweet to enter for a chance to score tickets to one of the hottest concerts tied to the VMAs.

This year's VMAs promise a constellation of major stars, with highly anticipated performances from seven-timer Kanye West and Lady Gaga, who will perform a new single from her upcoming ARTPOP album. More performers will be announced soon.

It's sure to be an exciting show with Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis leading the nominations with six apiece, including a face-off in the Video of the Year category for their respective videos for "Mirrors" and "Thrift Shop." Pink, Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus and Thirty Seconds to Mars are also up for the special-edition Moonman, which was designed by Brooklyn-based artist KAWS.

The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards air live on Sunday, August 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
