Shawty Lo Urges Oxygen To 'Give The Show A Chance'

'Sign a petition,' Lo tells his supporters of reviving canceled special.

They say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Well Shawty Lo feels that you shouldn't judge a reality show by its trailer.

On Tuesday, after mounting public pressure, Oxygen decided they were [article id="1700262"]no longer going to develop[/article] "All My Babies' Mamas," the reality special based on Shawty Lo, his 11 children and their 10 different mothers. Now the "Dey Know" rapper is saying that he understands the public concern, but the people have it all wrong.

"Yeah I really understand. They have the right to think that, but at least give the show a chance, to see what's goin' on," L-O pleaded when he spoke with Emperor Searcy and Mz Shyneka from Hot 107.9 in Atlanta on Wednesday (January 16). "They makin' their assumptions off a 13-minute trailer and this like the biggest news around the world right now and it's unbelievable."

A pilot of "All My Babies' Mamas" hit the Internet in late December and immediately faced criticism. Concerned parties signed online petitions and threatened to boycott the Oxygen network if they aired the television special, which they felt promoted an irresponsible lifestyle. Oxygen heard the cries, and on Tuesday, issued a release announcing that they will not move forward with the special, though they didn't cite specific reasons.

"The show wasn't about, we finna be fightin'," Lo explained before urging his fans to support. "My show is not about no negative; it's a positive. But if they wanna see the show, sign a petition."

There is now a counter-petition on Change.org which calls for Oxygen to green light the show. In the face of all the criticism, Shawty Lo maintains that through it all -- being a good father is what's important. "It's a lot of fathers don't take care of one; I gotta deal with 11. I gotta deal with nine girls and two boys," he told [article id="1699857"]MTV News[/article] last week. "Comin' up, we didn't have Thanksgiving, we didn't have Christmas, but if I had my father there, if I even had my mother there, I probably wouldn't have been that person I was in the streets."

Do you think a petition can get Shawty Lo's "All My Babies' Mamas" back on air? Sound off in the comments!
