Jason Mraz Bashes Jonas Brothers Song

Singer claims JoBros' 'Introducing Me' sounds similar to his 'I'm Yours,' but that it's ultimately 'just a tremendous, tremendous horror of a tune.'

Sometimes in pop music, it happens. An artist comes out with a song that may sound similar to a song released by another artist. See Vanilla Ice and Queen/ David Bowie, if you need any historical context. Well, it seems that [artist id="1231897"]Jason Mraz[/artist] believes the [article id="1639622"]Jonas Brothers' "Camp Rock 2"[/article] tune "Introducing Me" sounds a bit too similar to his smash single "I'm Yours."

"Somebody told me about it. They were like, 'You've got to check this song out, man. It's a total rip-off of 'I'm Yours.' And they're like, 'You should do something about it,' which isn't my style," he explained to Popeater.com. "If anybody attributes your music or melody in some way, it's an honor. [But] there's something to be said about completely ripping it off 'cause that's your livelihood, and I have to support my family on the songs that I write and not just give it away."

While the JoBros have yet to comment on Mraz's take on their track, the singer notes that while he does see some similarities between the jangly, acoustic guitar-driven pop tunes, he won't be taking any legal action against the pop group. In fact, his criticism of the track might sting worse than any legal action would.

"I heard the song, and it was just a tremendous, tremendous horror of a tune," he said. "I noticed a few similarities in the melody, but it wasn't enough to pick up the phone and argue with somebody about it. If anything, I just wanted my $1.29 back that I spent on iTunes."
