Will 'The Office' and '30 Rock' Cross Over? Tina Fey and Steve Carell Think Not

'Date Night' co-stars consider trips to Paris and other familiar sitcom tropes.

On Thursday nights, millions tune in to see what kinds of silly workplace antics bumbling Dunder Mifflin boss Michael Scott (Steve Carell) and sassy TV writer Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) will be up to on "The Office" and "30 Rock." And since the two stars are teaming up on "Date Night," is it entirely inconceivable that Liz and Michael might ...

"Cross paths?" Fey asked, finishing the question posed by MTV News. Carell was quick to respond that a crossover episode seems highly unlikely. "Nope. Usually those cross-pollination things are so cheesy," he said.

But Fey decided to run with the idea, '80s sitcom-style, and came up with a concept: "What if it was a thing where we went to Paris?"

Carell continued with an equally familiar crossover trope. "When there's a snowstorm and three separate [shows] and they're situated in different cities -- they all end up at the same ski lodge, snowed in."

"See, I love that," Fey said, before proposing the ultimate "Happy Days" homage: "What if Liz Lemon and Michael Scott go up against each other in a shark-jumping contest?"

"Wouldn't people love to see that?" Carell laughed.

"Oh, Internet!" Fey agreed.
