Jennifer Hudson Is 'A Bit Busy' With New Album, Movie

'I'm enjoying myself,' star says of work on her second album and the upcoming film 'Winnie.'

[artist id="2481017"]Jennifer Hudson[/artist] has achieved a lot in a short time and already has a Grammy and an Oscar under her belt. Now with a few more films on her résumé and a husband and baby at home, she is ready to get busy working on more projects, including a new album and movie.

"I'm actually recording my album right now," she revealed to MTV News on the red carpet at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards on Sunday. "And getting ready for my next film, which is [article id="1626531"][about] Winnie Mandela[/article]. So it's a bit busy, but I'm enjoying myself."

She performed "Earth Song" at the Grammys with Usher, Celine Dion, Smokey Robinson and Carrie Underwood for the [article id="1630895"]Michael Jackson tribute[/article]. And now with that big show behind her, she can focus on her album and finding time to do research for her forthcoming film "Winnie."

"Actually that process has not started yet, but I'm gradually getting into that," she explained. "So we have a lot of preparations to do -- that is very, very dear to my heart and an important role to portray. So I'm excited about that."

Hudson will play the title role in "Winnie," a film about the former wife of Nelson Mandela. The film, which is adapted from Anne Marie du Preez Bezdrob's biography "Winnie Mandela: A Life," will be directed by Darrell Roodt, whose film "Yesterday" was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Flim Oscar in 2005. Shooting on "Winnie" is expected to begin in May.
