NEW YORK -- From Hollywood to Hoboken, people all over the country have now integrated such expressions as "fist-pumping" and "The Situation" into their daily lexicon thanks to the MTV phenomenon that is "Jersey Shore." Could Hollywood's elite be immune to the charm of Pauly D's gel and Snooki's charisma? In an effort to find out, MTV News' Josh Horowitz hit the red carpet of the National Board of Review Awards to investigate what celebrities thought of this cultural craze.

"Precious" star Gabourey Sidibe admitted she's a proud "Jersey Shore" viewer. "There's not a day that goes by -- I don't even watch the show regularly -- but I'm always quoting it," she said. Her favorite character? "the Situation! A few times a day, I'm always showing people off my situation!"

Anthony Mackie, star of the critically acclaimed "The Hurt Locker," is also aware of the Situation but does not subscribe to his fan club. "You know, the funny thing about that dude is [that] he calls himself 'the Situation' but it's like, I want to see him come down to New Orleans and be 'the Situation,' come down to Harlem and be 'the Situation.' "

George Clooney began to talk about the show with gusto. " 'Jersey Shore' is like, you know ...," he said. Horowitz then called Clooney's bluff and asked, "Do you even know what 'the Situation' is?" Clooney laughed and admitted, "No."

Some celebs had not seen the show but were eager to check it out. Actor Morgan Freeman said that he would "check it out" based on the recommendation. And although talk-show host Regis Philbin says he has not watched the show, one of his co-workers is from Jersey (we assume he means co-host Kelly Ripa), so he knows "all about it!"

Others seemed to be closeted fans. "I've seen a little bit of 'Jersey Shore,' " director J.J. Abrams coyly admitted with a smile.
