Kristen Stewart 'Inspires' Repeat Co-Star Dustin Milligan

MTV News unearths a 2005 interview with 'In the Land of Women' and 'Messengers' actor.

Dustin Milligan can't escape Kristen Stewart. Milligan worked with the "Twilight" star in "The Messengers" and "In the Land of Women," and he revealed recently that he also angled for the role of Edward Cullen.

"I did my best Edward Cullen," Milligan told "Access Hollywood," jokingly adding, "But, unfortunately, I didn't have a British accent, so I didn't get the job!"

After Milligan's revelation, we decided to delve into the MTV News archives to find out what it was like for the "90210" star to work with Stewart twice in the past. We tracked down a 2005 interview with the actor, in which he had only kind words for his co-star.

"She's a really smart young woman," he said on [article id="1551235"]the set of "The Messengers."[/article] "She's phenomenal. She's really good. She knows her stuff. She sort of inspires me a little bit."

And before "Twilight" was an opportunity for either of the young actors, Milligan wasn't sure if future collaborations were in the cards. "I don't know about [us being the new Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan]," he said. "We were talking about it, and we were pretty sure this is the last time we'd be working together until we're adults, because people are probably going to get sick of two movies coming out in the same year, maybe."

The Evolution Of: Kristen Stewart

At the time, he raved about Stewart's performances in both flicks and seemed genuinely pleased to have had the chance to work with her. "It was really cool to get to work with Kristen [on 'Land'] and to meet her and to get to hang out and then find out then that we were going to be doing ['The Messengers'] together, like, right after," he said. "And that was great, and I'm really stoked about that movie and just about everything. Kristen is great in it."
