Will.I.Am Makes Double Debut With 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' Movie, Video Game

Black Eyed Peas leader teleports to theaters and game store shelves with 'Wolverine.'

[artist id="1521450"]Will.I.Am's[/artist] debut in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" this week was a big first step for the musician, but it wasn't the only first step he was taking into a new medium. Released simultaneously with the big-screen [article id="1610416"]"Wolverine,"[/article] the video game based on the movie also featured the [artist id="30064"]Black Eyed Peas[/artist] member — or rather, the teleporting mutant he plays in the film, John Wraith.

"I was in Australia, and they told me they had to take a 3-D scan [for the video game]," said Will.I.Am, who knew he'd be providing the voice of his character but was surprised to discover the digital version of Wraith would be based on the look he brought to the role.

"Forget the voice, that's a 3-D scan of me up there," he laughed. "That's me!"

The "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" game, which promises to both parallel the storyline of the film and expand upon many of the plot points, features much of the "Wolverine" cast reprising their roles and providing both voiceovers and body scans for their characters. Players assume the role of Wolverine, and navigate the Marvel Comics hero's adventures as a soldier, a deadly government operative, and a loner bent on destroying the clandestine agency that subjected him to painful experiments and ordered his death.

"What makes John Wraith cool is, he's a smartass but he's a good guy," said Will.I.Am of his "Wolverine" character. "I like that type of superhero."

A former teammate of Wolverine, Wraith assists the hero in his quest for revenge — which hits both theaters nationwide and the shelves of your local game store Friday, May 1.
