Tila Tequila Hit By Death Hoax On Twitter

'Tila Tequila is doing fine and is very grateful to her fans for their concern,' a rep for the reality-TV star says in a statement.

Tila Tequila is used to being thrust into the spotlight, but usually it's her doing. The "Shot at Love" star (born Thien Thanh Thi Nguyen) allegedly got some unwelcome attention early Monday morning (April 13) when a person described as an obsessed fan reportedly hacked into her Twitter page and posted some disturbing news updates.

Radar Online reported that at 2:39 a.m. Monday, a Tweet was sent out that said, "Tila Tequila is dead," which was followed by a second post, in which the person bragged, "I just broke into her house, killer her and her dog. Logged onto Twitter to tell you guys. She was signed on already. Tila Tequila is dead."

The post ended around 4:30 a.m., with Tequila writing, "I'm still shaking and crying! My dog in the trunk of the car, house is shattered, everything is smashed! I'm staying at a friend's house 2nite." A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department said it had not received any reports of break-ins in the Los Angeles area that matched the one described on Tequila's site.

A rep for Tequila sent this statement to MTV News on Monday: "Tila Tequila is doing fine and is very grateful to her fans for their concern. She appreciates everyone respecting her privacy as she deals with this matter." The rep also said police were not called during the incident.

Saying "too much has happened," a "scared, exhausted and drained," Tequila reportedly wrote to assure fans that she was OK. "Want to apologize to my fans who were worried about me," she said. "I'm moving into a different house very soon because I have a stalker who is very much so endangering my life at the moment."

Tequila wrote that the alleged break-in resulted in everything in her living room being broken, explaining, "EVERYTHING IS SHATTERED! I'm so sad right now. ... This sucks. Then I found my dog locked in the trunk of my car!!!!!!!!!! I've been crying all night. This is f---ed up. I'm sad and shocked and bye."

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department said it had not received any reports of break-ins in the Los Angeles area that matched the one described on Tequila's site, and Tequila's spokesperson said she had "nothing to report" at press time and could not comment on either the alleged Twitter hack or break-in.

By Monday morning, Tequila's Twitter page -- which has a nearly 80,000-person following -- had a message that read, "This person has protected their updates."

Last year, Tequila was the subject of another death rumor on MySpace, where it was reported that she'd died of an overdose.
