It's A Good Time To Be A 'Star Wars' Fan ... In Europe

'Revenge of the Sith' will debut at Cannes; U.K. will host first six-episode screening.

If those "Star Wars" junkies lined up outside Grauman's Chinese Theater in Los Angeles really want to get the first peek at "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith," they should probably pack their bags for France.

The final episode in George Lucas' space epic will get its debut at the Cannes Film Festival, organizers announced on Tuesday. The movie, clocking in at two hours and 20 minutes, will screen on the French Riviera four days before its U.S. debut on May 19. "Revenge of the Sith" will be shown out of competition at the 58th annual festival, which will also feature one of the first screenings of Gus Van Sant's Kurt Cobain-inspired flick, "Last Days."

And while you're in Europe, might as well make your way to England, because according to British newspaper The Guardian, U.K. fans will be the first to get the chance to see all six of the movies back-to-back. The whole shebang is slated to unspool at London's Leicester Square on May 16, a day after the "Sith" premiere at Cannes.

They'll be in good company, as Lucas and actors Hayden Christensen and Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine) are slated to be on hand for the marathon. The first five episodes will be screened during a day-long event at a trio of theaters. The evening will culminate with the "Sith" premiere at the Odeon Leicester Square, the biggest theater in the U.K.

Only 1,000 fans who plunk down $95 for a special "Galactic Passport" ticket will be granted access.

In a final nod to the first episode, the theme song to "Sith" will be issued as a single, according to a Reuters report. The track, "Battle of the Heroes," which depicts the battle between Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, will be released on May 23. It is performed by five-time Oscar winner John Williams conducting the London Symphony Orchestra, who teamed 28 years ago to perform the score for the first "Star Wars" film.

Jake Lloyd, the young actor who starred in "The Phantom Menace" and then promptly fell off the face of the earth, granted his first interview in six years to MTV News: Check out
