Good Charlotte, Simple Plan Launching Joint Tour In May

North American trek will run through June 5 with openers Reliant K.

The milk chocolate of Good Charlotte's goth-punk, the peanut-butter smoothness of Simple Plan's pop-punk: Two great tastes that ... well, you know where we were going with that.

What could be called the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup of "TRL"-friendly punk tours will kick off May 3 in Kansas City, Missouri, and travel across North America through June 5.

The idea for the joint tour was hatched earlier this month when both bands hung out backstage before the MTV Asia Aid benefit concert in Thailand (see [article id="1496009"]"Good Charlotte, Kelly Clarkson, Hoobastank Sign On For MTV Asia Aid Benefit"[/article]). When they hit the stage, Good Charlotte's Benji and Joel Madden and Simple Plan's Pierre Bouvier each grabbed a mic to hype the idea.

"We wanted all of you to know that we're going on tour," Joel shouted.

"Two bands, 10 boys, one stage," Benji added.

Bouvier, who had previously hinted that his band would be hitting the road with someone big in the spring (see [article id="1496304"]"Simple Plan Singer Rates His Acting Debut: 'Eh, It's OK' "[/article]), added his two cents, in his typically over-the-top style.

"It's the biggest tour ever!" he laughed.

At press time, neither band's management could provide a full itinerary, though it is known that pop-punkers Relient K will serve as the opening act.

Until the tour starts, Good Charlotte will crisscross Europe and the U.K., while Simple Plan will play dates in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. But if you're missing your fix of the Plan -- or, more specifically, Bouvier -- tune in to MTV on Sunday at 9:30 p.m. PT/ET to catch "Damage Control," MTV's newest hidden camera show, hosted by Bouvier himself.
