N.O.R.E. Busted For Marijuana Possession

Rapper, four passengers arrested when drugs are found in SUV.

Rapper N.O.R.E. was arrested for marijuana possession Wednesday evening in New York after police allegedly found a joint and a bag of pot in his SUV.

Officers pulled N.O.R.E. over in Manhattan's East Village around 5 p.m. after receiving a report that someone was seen waving a gun before stepping into an SUV matching the description of the rapper's ride, according to an NYPD spokesperson.

N.O.R.E., 25, and four male passengers, including fellow rapper Tragedy Khadafi, were charged with misdemeanor possession after cops said they found marijuana on one of the men in the car. No gun was found in the vehicle. A spokesperson for the Manhattan district attorney's office said the rapper, born Victor Santiago and also known as Noreaga, was arraigned and released on Wednesday night and is scheduled to appear in court October 9. The charge carries a maximum penalty of three months in jail.

This isn't the first time N.O.R.E. has been busted for allegedly rolling with reefer. He was arrested in 1999 for smoking weed in a car with a few companions, but a judge dismissed the charge on the condition that the rapper keep his nose clean for a year. He also served prison time in the early '90s for attempted murder and was found not guilty in 1999 of assaulting a 16-year-old fan at a 1998 concert.

N.O.R.E.'s spokesperson did not return calls for comment.
