Revamped Limp Bizkit Album Now Due In September

Possibly titled Panty Sniffer, the disc features new guitarist Mike Smith.

Limp Bizkit will release a single before the Summer Sanitarium Tour kicks off July 4, but the band's new album won't drop until the fall.

"We started writing again with our new guitarist, and it's going so good that we don't want to jeopardize any of the creativity by limiting ourselves by a time," frontman Fred Durst said at Wednesday's "The Matrix Reloaded" premiere. "So we'll get our single out and finish this album and it'll be worth the wait. I promise."

Durst wrote Wednesday on Limp Bizkit's Web site that the group's fourth studio album is due the first week in September. He also gave a new title, Panty Sniffer, but the title has changed more times than the much-delayed disc's release date, and it appears to be a running joke.

Limp Bizkit had an album's worth of songs finished several weeks back, but they went back to the drawing board after Mike Smith joined the lineup (see [article id="1471357"]"Limp Bizkit Start Over On New LP With Guitarist Mike Smith"[/article]). The band is now working on vocals in the studio, traditionally one of the final elements recorded for an album.

"You're not gonna comprehend where we took this one," Durst wrote. "On the other hand, you will fully understand where are our heads are at. I'm very proud to say that our new guitarist, Mike, is one badass motherf---er! He's giving me riffs I've always wanted to have."

On "The Matrix Reloaded" red carpet, Durst said he's got a couple of scripts of his own he plans to direct. "We're figuring out a good time for me to shoot that doesn't interfere with my music," he said. "That got me here first."
