It'll be a long August, September and October for Counting Crows this year — the roots-rockers embark on a 34-date tour even as they continue work on their fourth studio album.
The group will hit clubs, college auditoriums and theaters on the tour, its publicity firm said Wednesday. The outing kicks off August 18 in Englewood, Colorado, and won't end until a November 7 show "somewhere in Middle America" — Lawrence, Kansas, to be precise.
Counting Crows expect to release the follow-up to 1999's This Desert Life next spring, according to their publicist. The band plans to write and record songs for the new album during breaks on the tour.
While the group had been working with producer Steve Lillywhite (Dave Matthews Band, U2), its publicist was unable to say whether Lillywhite is still involved with the project.
