Ben Folds Lines Up First Solo Outing
Ben Folds will be rockin' the suburbs on his first-ever solo tour — and visiting some major metropolitan areas, too.
Folds is scheduled to hit the road in support of his new album, Rockin' the Suburbs, on September 7 in Carrboro, North Carolina, near the piano man's native Chapel Hill, according to his publicist. The five-week trek winds down October 15 in Los Angeles. The former Ben Folds Five frontman's New York show (September 13) will be part of the annual CMJ Music Marathon (see [article id="1444795"]"Coldplay, Ben Folds Tagged For CMJ Marathon"[/article]).
Joining Folds onstage will be Chapel Hill chums Snooz (guitar/keyboard), Millard (bass) and drummer Jim Bogios, who previously pounded the skins for Sheryl Crow and the Dixie Chicks.
Rockin' the Suburbs, set for release on September 11, is the first offering from any Ben Folds Five member since the band broke up in October (see [article id="1445359"]"Ben Folds Will Be Rockin' The Suburbs In September"[/article]).
Before embarking on the outing, Folds will play concerts on Friday and Monday in his adopted home of Australia, a one-off gig in Atlanta on August 10, and three U.K. shows (two as part of the V2001 Festival) August 18-20. After performing for North America, he's off to Japan for a handful of gigs beginning November 9.
