A judge in Orchard Park, New York, has set a May 7 court date for Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney, who face charges stemming from a scuffle with police on June 3, the Associated Press reports. A lawyer for the two, meanwhile, is seeking to have the assault charges dismissed. The singers were arrested after a George Strait festival date near Buffalo, New York, after Chesney reportedly was forcibly removed by sheriff's deputies from a police horse and McGraw came to Chesney's aid. McGraw is charged with assault, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and harassment — misdemeanors punishable by up to a year in prison. Andy Griggs was arrested for car theft on Friday (February 16) in Tallahassee, Florida, the Associated Press reports. When they returned to the motel, they were arrested and charged with grand theft auto, a third-degree felony that carries a penalty of up to five years in jail.
