Type O Negative Finding Warm Welcome On The Road

The gloom-drenched gentlemen of Type O Negative aren't likely to crack a collective wide smile about it, but things are going well on the band's current U.S. tour.

The group began its run with nine straight sold-out shows, playing to full houses in Cleveland, Detroit, Toledo, Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Denver, Salt Lake City, and Seattle.

Despite the success Type O is finding on the tour, the band was careful not to let the lure of the road taint the recording of its new album, "World Coming Down." However, it wasn't the band's notorious pessimism that kept visions of packed houses out of their heads, but rather a focused work ethic.

[article id="1451362"]"When you have touring plans, it kind of puts pressure on you to finish the record,"[/article] Type O drummer Johnny Kelly explained to MTV News. [article id="1451362"]"It kind of gives it a deadline where you have to have the record finished in a certain amount of time, because then

you have to prepare to go on tour and do other things as opposed to not having any deadlines and just letting the record be finished." [RealVideo][/article]

Apparently the focus has paid off, as the band's first-week sales numbers on "World Coming Down" more than doubled the first week sales of its last effort, 1996's "October Rust.

Type O hopes to push the album even further with the album's first video, for the track "Everything Dies." The clip was shot in Brooklyn last month, and the band hopes to have the video finished in two weeks.
