Britney Spears Announces Summer Tour

Even as dual nominee Britney Spears preps for a big night out at the Grammy Awards, the teen singer has just announced plans to support her as-yet-untitled sophomore album with an extensive North American tour this summer.

The new concert dates, which begin on June 15 in Charlotte, North Carolina, are in addition to Spears' previously announced spring tour (see [article id="1434396"]"Britney Spears Phones 'TRL' To Announce U.S. Tour Dates"[/article]). That jaunt kicks off on March 8 in Pensacola, Florida and wraps up on April 9 in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Spears, who has already sold 8.8 million copies of her debut "Baby One More Time" to date (according to sales figures from SoundScan), will release a new album on May 16. A new single, titled "Oops! … I Did It Again," is set to arrive on radio on March 27.

Spears is among the scheduled performers for the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards, which will air on Wednesday at CBS at 8 p.m. (ET/PT). She is

also expected to drop by for a Grammy-day "TRL," which Carson Daly will host from Los Angeles.

MTV News will be on hand at the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards on February 23 providing complete coverage. The action starts on-air next Wednesday at 7 p.m. with MTV News' "Backstage At The Grammys" and continues throughout the night online, where we will be providing coverage and giving you the chance to share your thoughts on the proceedings as well.
