Rakim Donates Jacket To Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame; Prepares New Album

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame has a number of instantly identifiable artifacts on display, including Michael Jackson's jeweled glove from the "Billie Jean" video, John Lennon's "Sgt. Pepper" jacket, and ZZ Top's "Eliminator" car.

Now, thanks to the Hall's "Roots, Rhymes & Rage: The Hip-Hop Story" exhibit, which opens on November 11, you can get a close-up look at the black and gold Gucci-lettered jacket that Rakim wore on the cover of the classic 1988 Eric B. & Rakim "Follow The Leader" album. The jacket will be one of many items that will be on display during the exhibit's stay in the museum.

Meanwhile, Rakim is currently working on his next solo release, "The Master." As we previously reported, DJ Premier and Clark Kent will be producing the tracks for the album (see [article id="1433602"]"Rakim Discusses Plans For Next Album"[/article]), DJ Premier and Clark Kent will be guesting on the album. Rakim is also collaborating with Lauryn Hill on the

record, which may be out as soon as November.

In other Rakim news, he has also taken on the role of spokesperson for a new clothing line from Boss, which will launch in late fall.
