Tribe's Q-Tip Loses Unreleased Songs In Fire

Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest reportedly lost a good deal of computer gear, and with it a collection of unreleased songs, when fire swept through his townhouse over the weekend.

According to the Associated Press, Q-Tip (whose given name is Jonathan Davis) escaped from his Englewood, New Jersey residence without injury when the fire broke out Saturday night.

However, the rapper, who is scheduled to deliver a new album with his Tribe counterparts this spring, says that he lost a number of unreleased songs in the fire, which authorities told the AP began in Q-Tip's home studio.

I am happy that everyone is all right, but I just had so much stuff and now it's destroyed. I am going to have to start all over,' Q-Tip told the AP. It's unclear if the fire will push back the release date of Tribe's next album.

Q-Tip, who turned up recently on Janet Jackson's "Velvet Rope" album, also reportedly lost a number of vinyl records in the fire.
