Jan. 8 [18:00 EST] -- Liz Phair joined the growing ranks of the newly maternal musicians shortly before Christmas. After an intense 30-hour delivery, the guitar-wielding rocker gave birth to an 8.5 lb. baby boy on December 21.

According to her record label, Liz is now resting at home in Chicago and "completely in love" with little James Nicholas Staskauskas, who she calls "Nick." The son is the first child of Phair and her husband of two years Jim Staskauskas.

Phair, undaunted by her marathon labor, asked, "When can I have more of these?" after the delivery.

In career news, Phair has delivered her next album to her label, Matador Records, and the still untitled work should be released in August.
