The Jurassic 5 has dropped off the Vans Warped tour following a bus crash that sent three of its MCs to the hospital.
The band's Chali 2na remains hospitalized following surgery for a fractured skull; a band spokesperson told MTV News that he is expected to make a full recovery. Marc 7even and Akil were treated for minor injuries and released.
The spokesperson confirmed a report posted on The Roots' Okay Player message board (at okayplayer.com) by a crew member that said the group's bus driver fell asleep at the wheel and drove off the road into a six-foot ditch.
The crash occurred as the band was heading to Houston following Tuesday's Warped tour stop in Nashville. The exact time and location of the accident have yet to be confirmed.
The band was originally scheduled to leave the Warped tour early to join the Beastie Boys and Rage Against The Machine on tour, but when that outing
was postponed, the group rescheduled the Warped dates.
The spokesperson said that while it was possible the Jurassic 5 may still catch the tail end of the Warped tour, the group's participation is unlikely.
