Principal Pulls Plug On Another Indigo Girls Show

The Indigo Girls, who are in the midst of a three-week tour of high school and college campuses, have been banned from playing yet another high school.

The concert, which was scheduled for this Tuesday at Germantown High School in Germantown, Tennessee, was canceled because the Indigo Girls used profanity during a recent high school performance in Georgia.

As we previously reported (see [article id="1430292"]"Indigo Girls Speak Out On Show Cancellation"[/article]), the principal of Irmo High School in Irmo, South Carolina, canceled an Indigo Girls show slated for Thursday because of complaints about the duo's openly gay sexuality.

The Girls have since re-scheduled and re-located that show for this Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Township Auditorium in Irmo and have given away 2,000 free tickets to high school students.

For Ernest Chism, the principal of Germantown High School, sexuality is not the main issue, as Chism is primarily concerned

that Amy Ray and Emily Sailers will sing "Shame on You," which features the dreaded "F" word, a song they performed at Loganville High School in Georgia on April 13.

While the Indigo Girls vowed not to use profanity, Chism said "once you give entertainers a microphone, you're at their mercy.

The Girls' spring tour winds down May 8 at the Backyard in Austin, Texas, with a Zapatista benefit featuring Shawn Colvin, Rickie Lee Jones and Steve Earle.
