Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, Shania Twain Lead American Music Awards Nominations
The nominations for the 27th annual American Music Awards were announced on Monday, and Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, and Shania Twain are all tied for the most nominations, with each receiving three nods apiece.
Other multiple nominees for American Music Awards show, which is being held next month at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, include Lauryn Hill, the Backstreet Boys, TLC, Ricky Martin, Kid Rock, Jennifer Lopez, Santana, Garth Brooks, Dixie Chicks, and George Strait.
The American Music Awards ceremony will also include the presentation of the annual Award of Merit, given to an as-yet-named artist for a lifetime of achievement in music. Past recipients of the Award of Merit include Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, and Frank Sinatra.
The ABC network will broadcast the 27th annual American Music Awards on January 17 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. (ET).
