Everything Covers Kinks, Brings Yuletide Cheer

Everything has had a good year. They released their 5th album, "Supernatural." They toured extensively. They released their single "Hooch," which spawned a successful video and earned a place in Adam Sandler's wildly and inexplicably popular "The Waterboy" (although it was not featured on the soundtrack). But the year is not over yet...

The Virginia based sextet decided to re-record the Kinks' "Father Christmas" and release it as a year end bonus. When we spoke with Everything, lead singer Craig Honeycutt talked about recording the holiday track, [article id="1443852"]"How many rock Christmas songs are there really... that really rock? So it gave us a chance just to let our hair down and make something that was really driving... You know this band, we explore a lot of different musical avenues and you can't really explore all of them on one record, something like this is a little bit different.

So we get a chance to stretch our musical bounds, we go from

a horns section to all guitars, so that the feels can really change, and to get this really aggressive singing hard, rocking type vibe, you know, was just amazing for us. So look for that, apparently some stations are already playing it and we've been playing it a lot at live shows lately too, it's just been good. It's Ray Davies man...

Yeah, thanks to Ray Davies for writing such a killer song that we could cover," [28.8 RealVideo][/article] concluded bassist David Slankard.

In other year end Everything news, to sing out the old and ring in the new the band will play a much anticipated, bittersweet New Year's Eve farewell to the Bayou. This December 31 show will mark the closing of the Bayou, a well known Washington, D.C. venue where many bands including Everything got their start. Tickets for that New Year's Eve show, and info on how to get their holiday single are available at Everything's website. (www.ecolon.com)
