Rah Digga Happy With "Dirty Harriet" Debut

Rah Digga, a.k.a. the "first female" of Busta Rhymes' Flip Mode Squad, hit record racks last week with her debut LP, "Dirty Harriet," which will make a healthy debut at number 18 on next week's "Billboard" album chart.

The project marks the New Jersey-bred rapper's foray into the solo arena after establishing herself via the Flip Mode Squad's "Imperial" album back in 1998 (see "Rah Digga Gets Hometown Key, Unleashes "Harriet").

[article id="1442802"] "It makes me feel good to be recognized,"[/article] Rah said of her chart debut. [article id="1442802"] "And for as long as I've been considering myself an underground hip-hopper, it makes me feel good to know that there's, like, a whole other mass of people that's checkin' for me on top of the underground."[/article]

With "Dirty Harriet" originally slated for release in late 1999, Digga added that she is grateful

to

her patient fans for cutting her some slack.

[article id="1442802"] "I know there are people who've been waiting for me since The Fugees' [song] 'Cowboys' and [other] various projects that I participated on back in the day,"[/article] Digga continued, [article id="1442802"]"and I'm just glad that now, finally, I'm able to service them with the album. I hope I gave everyone what they were waiting for." [RealVideo][/article]

Rah Digga's current single is "The Imperial," featuring Busta Rhymes. In the coming weeks, the rapper plans to shoot the video for her next offering, "Break Fool," a clip that she says will probably have a club feel.
