Deftones Eye Incubus Tour As Chino Toils On Side Project

As the Deftones camp continues to hammer out dates for a fall tour with Incubus, frontman Chino Moreno is working on a side project that those close to the band say boasts an ambient feel.

Moreno and Deftones DJ Frank Delgado are toiling away on a side project called Team Sleep, and Moreno's reps say the singer will take recording gear along with him on the upcoming tour so that he can tinker with Team Sleep material while on the road.

The singer hopes to have a Team Sleep album out sometime next year.

Meanwhile, Deftones' guitarist Stephen Carpenter is hooking up with B-Real from Cypress Hill and bassist Christian Olde Wolbers and drummer Raymond Herrera from Fear Factory on a side project called Kush. Given that the Deftones will be on the road and Fear Factory is in the studio working on a new album, it's unlikely that Kush will release anything in the near future.

News of the side projects comes shortly after word that Deftones bassist Chi Cheng

will release a spoken word album via the band's official Web site (see [article id="1427981"]"Deftones Bassist Preps Spoken Word Album"[/article]).

The Deftones are hoping to launch a tour with Incubus in October.
