Danzig Reanimates Samhain For Tour And Box Set

Glenn Danzig will re-animate his early '80s transitional goth band, Samhain, for a short reunion tour and the release of a new multi-disc box set that collects live, alternate and previously unheard material from his second, cadaver-rattling group.

In a phone interview from Verotik Publishing in California, site of his book store and office, Danzig confirmed that he would be resurrecting Samhain's original members for a brief tour of eight to 10 major cities before returning the band, once and for all, to the nether regions.

Danzig said he hopes to unleash both the Samhain box set and tour around Christmastime, although he still lacks a label to underwrite the album and road jaunt. The dark one is currently sorting out his final separation from Hollywood Records, the Disney-owned company that distributed his last album, 1996's "Blackacidevil.

Meanwhile, Danzig has already penned some 20 songs for his band's next album, and will have a chance to cut its teeth

on the material during an opening stint for German über-rockers Rammstein, who asked Danzig to join them for two Berlin shows on August 22 and 23.

Danzig formed Samhain in 1982 after leaving his first group, the punk-driven Misfits, and the singer would go on to form his self-named group from the remnants of Samhain four years later.

Last year a re-tooled line-up of the Misfits released an album, "American Psycho," with a replacement vocalist, but in a sign of what may be Danzig's lasting curse on his former band, in May the Misfits were forced to tap another singer while preparing for a tour of Europe and South America (see [article id="1432198"]"Misfits Get Hideous New Singer"[/article]).
