Report: Drugs Not A Factor In Buckley's Death

June 27 [7:55 EDT] -- A final toxicology report on the late Jeff Buckley has confirmed what was suspected after initial reports: Buckley simply and accidentally drowned in Memphis Harbor on May 29.

No drugs were found in the singer/songwriter's system, and a minute trace of alcohol was ruled inconsequential.

The final reports supports findings from a preliminary toxicology report released earlier this month (see "Buckley's Death Still A Mystery After Preliminary Tests" from June 17).

In related, and much happier news, Buckley's onetime collaborator, ex-Captain Beefheart guitarist Gary Lucas, has a new album out this week called "Evangeline." On the record, Lucas plays solo-acoustic versions of tunes by everyone from Beefheart to Sun Ra as well as a few of his own.
