Brandy Goes To Washington To Present Volunteer Awards

Less than a month after winning a Grammy for her duet with Monica on "The Boy Is Mine," singer-actress Brandy plans to head to Washington, D.C. on Tuesday for yet another awards presentation -- this time honoring volunteers and other community service activists.

Brandy will join first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton and Attorney General Janet Reno at the National Museum of Women in the Arts to recognize six young women selected for the second annual Volunteerism Awards, sponsored by "Seventeen" magazine and Cover Girl cosmetics.

As part of the awards, sponsors have agreed to grant more than $100,000 in scholarships, donations and savings bonds to the winners and their respective charity organizations.

Meanwhile, as her "Moesha" sitcom heads into the middle of its third season on the UPN, the multi-media vocalist is preparing to launch the promotional blitz for her second TV musical, "Double Platinum," which is scheduled to be broadcast in May.
