Ozzy Joining Limp, STP, Others For "Picnic"
With a headlining slot on Ozzfest lying in wait this summer, heavy metal forefather Ozzy Osbourne will warm up with a couple of one-off performances, including a stop by the KROCK Dysfunctional Family Picnic in New York.
First up, Ozzy will hit the stage of Hollywood's Roxy this Saturday night as part of a showcase for his Divine Recordings record label. The private affair will also mark the upcoming release of the Black Sabbath tribute album "Nativity In Black II" and will see Ozzy join Primus to offer a live version of the cover of Sabbath's "N.I.B." that the band recorded for the LP. Spokespeople for Osbourne say that the frontman is likely to jam with Primus for a bit as well.
Pantera, Godsmack, System Of A Down, Megadeth, Static-X, and Monster Magnet are also on board for the tribute album (see [article id="1425990"]"Megadeth, Godsmack, Pantera, Others Line Up To Salute Black Sabbath"[/article]).
Saturday night's show will also
feature Slayer and (hed) pe (who also turn up on the Sabbath tribute), Divine Recordings signing Slaves On Dope, and up-and-comer Steak Knife.
Ozzy will then turn up outside of New York (deep in the heart of New Jersey, to be specific) on June 23 as the special guest at the annual Dysfunctional Family Picnic staged by New York rock radio staple KROCK. There, Ozzy will join a bill that already includes Limp Bizkit, Stone Temple Pilots, Godsmack, Creed, the Deftones, and Sevendust (see [article id="1427596"]"Limp, STP, Creed, More Headed To 'Picnic'"[/article]), and he will offer up a full set.
Tickets for the show (slated for Holmdel, New Jersey's PNC Bank Arts Center) are $35 and $45, and go on sale on Friday.
