Archers Of Loaf Frontman Returns With Crooked Fingers
His days with the well-loved alt-noise quartet Archers Of Loaf behind him, Eric Bachmann is moving on with his new project, Crooked Fingers.
Comprised of the bespectacled frontman along with onetime Man... Or Astro-man? member Brian Causey (who played guitar on the Archers' last tour), Crooked Fingers released its first, self-titled album on Tuesday and has lined up a string of dates on the East Coast and in the Midwest.
Crooked Fingers finds Bachmann settling in a territory suggesting Nick Drake by way of Tom Waits, setting this group apart from his previous, somewhat jazz-inflected solo project, Barry Black (whose first album in 1995 featured guest appearances by Ben Folds along with other members of the Chapel Hill in-crowd).For those feeling nostalgic for the Archers, Alias Records is currently preparing a live album of the band's last show at the Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, North Carolina in December 1998. The label hopes to have the album out in June of thisyear.
