Aerosmith Fights Off Def Squad, Maxwell, Prince, Rancid On Charts

It's the end of the world on the top of the charts.

The Aerosmith-powered soundtrack to the film "Armageddon" will fend off string debuts from Def Squad and Maxwell to slip up to number one on next week's album sales chart according to figures released by SoundScan on Wednesday. In its second week in stores, the soundtrack sold more than 180,000 copies earning it the number one spot.

The highest debut of the week will belong to Def Squad, whose "El Nino" sold more than 150,000 copies in its first week in stores to land at number two. Close behind at number three is the sophomore effort from ultra-suave R&B crooner Maxwell, whose "Embrya" sold more than 149,000 copies.

The next highest debut belongs to Prince, whose latest New Power Generation album, "Newpower Soul," moved more than 47,000 copies to earn the number 22 spot.

A bit further down the chart, Rancid debuts at number 35 after selling more than 39,000 copies of "Life Won't Wait" in its first week
