Aerosmith To Cut Short Winter Tour

After announcing plans to tour though February 1999 in support of its new live double-album, "A Little South of Sanity," Aerosmith has now decided to halt the tour after its January 4 concert in Pittsburgh.

It isn't known whether the downtime means that singer Steven Tyler will be heading back for additional surgery on his knee -- which he injured during a concert in Anchorage, Alaska in May. Ticketmaster reports that the band's management indicated that Tyler simply needed a break from the road.

Aerosmith now plans to take several months off after the Pittsburgh date, and then resume touring sometime in late March-early April. The group has been out on the road almost non-stop since the release of its last studio record, "Nine Lives," in March of 1997.
