Nine Inch Richards Redo NIN's "Closer"
ATN
Australian correspondent Alex Jackson reports: What happens when
you combine sheep, cows, and other farmyard animal sounds with the
music of Nine Inch Nails? In the hands of duo Nine Inch Richards, you
end up with a song called "Closer To Hog," which has become an instant
favorite on Australia's national youth radio network Triple J.
The Nine Inch Richards are Buck Nakid and Slim Pickins. Nakid claims to
have arrived in Australia from "the deep south" of the US 11 years ago
and now lives in Sydney, while Pickins lives in Melbourne. "Closer To Hog"
is a country and western piss take of NIN's "Closer," complete with
banjo, mooing cows, baaaing sheep, and squealing pigs. According to the
CD slick, no animals were harmed in the making of the recording and it
is not the Richards' intention "to promote wanton sex with Animals" (they
believe "an emotional component is necessary for successful relationships
between consenting mammals"). Although the Richards have no immediate
recording plans, Triple J listeners have been asked to vote for what
they'd like to hear the Richards' massacre, sorry, reinterpret, next.
The most requested song will be recorded by the Richards on Triple J
later this week. We'll keep you posted.
