'Sucker Punch' Stars Talk About Becoming 'Obsessed' With Intense Workouts
SAN DIEGO -- One movie that has created quite a bit of
buzz at San Diego Comic-Con -- thanks in large part to a
well-received sneak preview on Saturday (July 24) -- is Zack
Snyder's "Sucker Punch," which opens in March 2011 and which the director has described as "'Alice in Wonderland' with machine guns."
MTV News caught up with four of the movie's stars -- Vanessa
Hudgens, Emily Browning, Jamie Chung and Jena Malone -- and
chatted about the training they did for their intense action
sequences.
"We probably at the beginning all felt like, oh my God, we don't look
like fighters," Browning said. "We're kind of all little girls. We
trained our asses off -- we worked really hard."
Browning went on to note that the training was a bit more intense than
a typical session at the gym. "We had Navy SEALs training us,"
Browning said. "We trained for three months, six hours a day. And we
got strong."
The actresses got so into training, they would crave workouts when
they didn't have any scheduled.
"If they weren't fighting [with] guns, they had withdrawal," Chung
revealed. "Jenna was always talking about it ... she was so obsessed."
Browning added, "If we didn't get to work out one day we'd be, like, shaking."
The actresses were also eager to mention their love and enthusiasm for
director Zack Snyder. Malone commended Snyder's enthusiasm and
collaborative spirit, and Browning said she'd happily sign onto
another Snyder film without even needing to see a script.
