We wanna give Jesse Eisenberg the benefit of the doubt most of the time, but this super duper weird interview makes it a little tough.

So, basically, this lady with Univision News does a semi-regular sketch interview series called "Say My Name with Romina" in which she gets all "Between Two Ferns"-y with her seemingly unaware celebrity interviewees. Sometimes they're totally game for it, like with Michael Pena and Snoop Dogg Lion. Other times, they're Jesse Eisenberg.

Now, there's an art to deadpanning through ridiculously awkward situations, as our pretend best pal Zach Galifianakis repeatedly demonstrates ... but given how very earnest Eisenberg appears to be when he says things like, "Hey, you're on my time" and "Don't call Morgan Freeman 'Freeman' like you're on a little league or something," we can't help but wonder, to quote the Joker, "Why so serious?"

Eisenberg even went so far as to call this poor chick the "Carrot Top of interviewers." And then insists that he meant that in a good way. Hold on, looking for positive Carrot Top associations...

Pretty much the only thing he left off the interview table here was a threatening note passed silently to Romina. Big yikes on this one, and it was totally not cute a la Mila Kunis and that randy British boy.

To add another layer to this messy mix, our friends at Funny or Die pretty much nailed it with Eisenberg's interview decorum a long, long time ago.

Guess Romina wasn't from "the right bank of girls" or something?
