Hilary Duff Goes Dark For A Synth-Pop Fleetwood Mac Cover
When Fleetwood Mac’s “Little Lies” debuted in August 1987, Hilary Duff wasn’t even born yet. But like most of us millennial music lovers, she became a Fleetwood fan later in life, and now calls them “one of [her] favorite bands of all time.”
So when the “Younger” star was asked to cover Fleetwood’s gently rocking “Little Lies,” she was immediately game. “TV Land called me,” the 28-year-old told People magazine. “They were like, ‘We want you to cover a song for the promos for the second season.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh my God. Yes, of course, I would love to.’”
The result is Duff’s electro-pop spin on the tune, which boasts a throbbing electronic beat, courtesy of producers Alex and Adam Anders, the duo behind the music on “Glee.” Duff describes it as “a little heavier and a little darker,” and she’s right — but it perfectly fits the tone of “Younger” with its haunting hook: “Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies.” After all, this IS a show about deceiving people with your age… a sweet lie, indeed.
