Kate Winslet Is Living Our Dream Life Wrapped In Couture (And Liam Hemsworth) In 'The Dressmaker'
In The Dressmaker, a worldly fashion designer (Kate Winslet) named Tilly returns to her rural Australian outback town in the early 1950s to seek the truth behind her notorious reputation — and bring her haute couture style to the homely, quirky townsfolk. Director Jocelyn Moorhouse's dark comedy is gorgeous to look at, and we're not referring to the local farmer (Liam Hemsworth) Tilly unexpectedly falls head over heels for. (Although, he's nice to look at, too.) We're talking about the fashun.
Given its title, it's no surprise that the film features lush fashions and richly tailored costuming from costume designers Margo Wilson and Marion Boyce. Armed with only her sewing machine and couture sense of style, Tilly transforms the townswomen with her exquisite creations. MTV News has an exclusive look at some of the film's stunning dresses, as well as a glimpse of an incredibly scruffy Hemsworth brother.
The Dressmaker hits theaters on September 23, 2016.
