Super Bowl Sunday: A Movie Lover's Guide

Iron Man, Captain Kirk and Oz will entertain during commercial breaks.

As much as we love watching big, sweaty men run around in tight-fitting pants, there's plenty more than beefcake and pigskins to look forward to today (February 3) when the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers face off in Super Bowl XLVII -- especially if you're a cinephile. From "Iron Man 3" to "World War Z," there will be no shortage of film footage to gawk at in between touchdowns.

To wit, here are the ads you should keep an eye out for during commercial breaks:

"World War Z"

Actually, you don't have to wait until Sunday to get a peek at Brad Pitt's zombie actioner, as the clip shambled onto the Internet way ahead of kickoff. Directed by Marc Foster, "World War Z" depicts a terrifying future in which a zombie pandemic threatens to turn everyone into the walking dead. The film hits theaters June 21.

"Oz The Great and Powerful"

"Am I dreaming?" No you are not, James Franco! You really are going to the Super Bowl ... in a commercial. Earlier this week, Disney released a 10-second teaser of the clip to come, which did little to answer any of our burning questions regarding the Sam Raimi-directed "Wizard of Oz" prequel. Here's hoping those additional 20 seconds are chock-full of insights! The film, also starring Mila Kunis and Michelle Williams, follows the yellow brick road on March 8.

"Iron Man 3"

Superheroes and athletes are a match made in heaven. After all, they have so much in common! Rippling pecs! Funny-looking head gear! Head-to-toe spandex! Robert Downey Jr. leads the charge with "Iron Man 3," and if the 10-second teaser is any indication, Tony Stark could use a few linebackers on his team. The film is set for a May 3 release.

"The Lone Ranger"

Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer: Do you need to know any more about this Disney romp? The House of Mouse plans to go big with a 90-second preview of the action adventure, which rides into cinemas July 3.

"The Fast and the Furious 6"

Buckle your seat belts (you knew we were going to say that, right?), because Vin Diesel and company are back for yet another "Fast and Furious" installment, with the added bonus of Gina Carano. Is it May 24 yet?

"Snitch"

It's a Dwayne Johnson twofer! He'll race speeding cars in "The Fast and the Furious 6" and then he'll ... race speeding cars in "Snitch." The latter is due in theaters February 22.

"Star Trek Into Darkness"

J.J. Abrams is already King of the Geeks. He's coming for you next, jocks.

Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen

OK, so there isn't actually an upcoming movie called "Paul Rudd and Seth Rogen" (as much as we want it to be true), but we thought it was worth noting that two of our favorite movie stars will be in a spot together for Samsung. And let's just say, there's not much you can say about the Super Bowl without getting sued.
